What me and the Hair Club for Men founder have in common

Hey Reader

I never imagined in my life I would say this,

But last week I noticed that me and the Hair Club for Men guy have one HUGE thing in common.

You remember that guy right? (My European friends might not - but he was a staple on my television commercials in the 80’s-90’s)

If you’re not familiar, Hair Club for Men was a hair restoration and replacement service for men who were experiencing hair loss.

And the tag line the president and founder would always end or begin his commercials with was:

“I’m not only the hair club president, I’m also a client”

And he’d show his before and after photos of his previous bald spot turned into luscious locks on the top of his head.

Now luckily, I’m not suffering from male pattern baldness, but I am experiencing the first hand the effects of being a client of your own product.

Last month this newsletter was about energy management and committing to a balance of work and play so we can honor the full spectrum of ourselves throughout the summer months.

Well, I tried to make a commitment to this by focusing my energy on launching my new product, the 21-day Energy Alignment Collection, and of course, man plans and God laughs.

This month was the BUSIEST month I've ever had at the agency I work for part-time as a creative director/designer.

I currently have 20 open projects in production, I’m not kidding.

And despite talking more and more about the importance of energetic maintenance, earlier this month I found myself QUITE out of balance.

The workload, the pressure and constant stream of requests coming from my clients and colleagues began to remind me of what life was like 10 years ago in the fast-paced agency life I fled from in LA.

I felt like I was zapped into a time machine as I could feel my stress levels rising and the great habits that I worked hard to implement into my daily routine, flew right out the window.

But this time, I quickly recognized that I have a super powerful toolkit in my belt designed to help me during these EXACT moments of high stress, and the only effort required of me is allowing myself to rest for 20 minutes a day.

This is what me and the president of the Hair Club for Men have in common. We’re not only the founder of our companies, but we’re also a client.

Last week, I started listening to the 21-Day Energy Alignment Collection and I can whole-heartedly say that this program is helping me significantly to ground amidst the chaos.

It's built for moments like this. When the going gets tough, out of balance or stressful. When you’ve lost your creative life force or you’re afraid to speak your truth. I'm telling you, I surprised MYSELF with it's effectiveness, and I'm SO grateful that I was able to birth this product into the world for all who are ready to experience it.

What's brewing

The timing of all this chaos couldn't have been more perfect, and I find it fascinating that this wild work period coincided directly with the shift into Leo season and the return of Mercury retrograde.

Leo energy is all about creative expression, confidence and stepping into our power, but it can also amplify drama and overwhelm if we're not feeling grounded. Meanwhile, Mercury retrograde asks us to slow down, review and revisit our systems (hello, 20 open projects and no solid launch plan in place for the EAC)!

At first, I was frustrated by the timing. Here I am, launching a product about energy alignment then dipping deeply into old familiar patterns and scattered energy. But then I realized, this IS the work.

This is exactly when we need these tools the most.

The fire of Leo wants us to create boldly and shine brightly, but without a proper energetic foundation, that fire can burn us out instead of light us up. And Mercury retrograde? It's actually the perfect invitation to go back to basics, and to return to the fundamental practices that keep us centered.

That's the beauty of energy work. It's not about achieving some permanent state of zen. It's actually about having reliable tools to return to balance when life inevitably gets chaotic.

As we move through the rest of Leo season and this retrograde phase (ending August 11th but in shadow for pretty much the rest of the month), I'm reminded that sustainable creativity requires this kind of energetic maintenance. The Universe is not conspiring against us, it's offering us opportunities to practice what we preach.

JUST FOR YOU:

Creative AlCHEMY EXERCISE

This week, try this simple Leo-season grounding practice:

Place your hands on your heart and take three deep breaths.

Ask yourself: "Where am I trying to force things instead of allowing myself to flow with them?"

Leo energy loves to push forward with sheer willpower, but sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is surrender to the rhythm of our energy rather than fighting against it.

With light and creativity,
Kat
