Surprise! my newsletter looks a little different this year.
Not in the visual sense, but for 2026 I’ve decided to start sending these out on the new moon (since new moons are natural reset points) …and today marks a big one!
Today is the Lunar New Year, and we begin the Year of the Fire Horse in Chinese Astrology. And it’s got big energy coming along with it.
Fire Horse energy is bold, powerful and alive.
It’s movement. Momentum. Creation in motion.
So let's talk about that for a second.
What's brewing
Now feels like the perfect time to remind you of something that a lot of us have a tendency to forget, or perhaps this is something you were never even taught.
Creativity in it’s raw form… is not a skill. It’s a birthright.
Allow me to explain.
Yes… you can learn to paint. You can practice guitar. You can study poetry, design, writing or dance.
Those are creative skills.
And yes… for some people, things like that come natural and easy.
That’s creative talent.
But neither of those things are creativity itself.
Creativity isn’t something you have to learn or try and acquire.
It isn’t something you “get back.” And it isn’t something you earn the right to claim.
Creativity is something that you are.
Because as a human being, you are inherently creative.
You are creating ALL the time.. whether you’re conscious of it or not.
Through your thoughts. Your choices. Your attention. Your energy.
You are the maker of your lived experience, moment by moment.
And that is real power.
So as we step into this new moon energy, and this new year energy, I’d love for you to take a moment to remember with me just how powerful you are.
JUST FOR YOU:
Creative AlCHEMY EXERCISE
Let’s ignite the creative fire within you to celebrate this new moon/new year energy.
If you’ve felt like creativity has been dormant for a while, this is the perfect way to reignite the creative current that’s running within you, but maybe felt out of reach.
Instead of setting goals this new moon… try setting an identity.
Grab a piece of paper or a journal and write this sentence at the top of the page:
“In this next cycle, I choose to be the kind of person who…”
Then finish that sentence in 5 different ways.
Not what you’ll accomplish, or what you’ll produce.
But who you’re becoming.
Once you’ve identified the kind of person you intend to become, take a few minutes with your hands on your heart, and see if you can experience this kind of energy in your body.
For example… if you’re becoming who radiates success, how does it feel? Maybe your shoulders press back, your chest perks up, and golden rays of pride feel like they’re beaming from your chest, like the sun peeking out over the horizon.
This will feel different for everybody, so see if you can identify how it feels.
And for this year, when you notice you’re NOT feeling that way… can you channel it back into your experience... consciously?
This will be your north star as you navigate the year ahead.
