I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people on social media talking about “being magnetic”.
And the idea that when you become magnetic, you’re able to call in more money, better relationships, bigger opportunities, etc. etc.
I’ve found myself trying to wrap my mind around this concept for a while now (which is probably why the algorithm has been feeding me so much of it…haha), but the other day, it all came together… and my brain exploded a little. 🤯
Allow me to explain.
First, let’s think about magnets for a second.
Magnets don’t go around trying to be magnetic. Right?
They just ARE.
They don’t wake up in the morning and think “okay… how do I attract more metal into my life today?" or “how can I call in better-quality metal?”
They literally cannot help but be magnetic, because that’s just how they’re designed to be.
So that made me think...
Being magnetic really isn’t about doing…. it’s simply about BEING.
What's brewing
That made me think about the concept of resonance.
People say things like “oh that resonates…” all the time, right? Like.. yeah, I get it, that makes sense to me.
But resonance is a concept in physics and it’s also pretty important when it comes to the world of sound.
Now I am no physicist… but here’s my layman interpretation of this:
Basically, resonance is when two frequencies match… they amplify each other.
And when they don’t… there’s a disconnect, tension, or nothing happens (a.k.a. dissonance).
Here's a demo of the science from a video on YouTube if you're curious to see this in action
So, if we look at the way we are as human beings… we kind of function the same.
When your nervous system… your thoughts, behaviors and identity are sending a bunch of scattered signals that don’t match …things can feel VERY hard, off, or just wrong.
But when we’re able to get these thoughts or behaviors ALIGNED in the same direction… they become coherent. They start to resonate. They move, and shift.
This becomes especially obvious in the creative process.
There is a distinct difference between experiencing a block - where you can’t squeeze out an ounce of creative juice - verses that smooth, delicious land of free-flowing creativity where you get lost for hours in your craft. You know what I mean?
And when you’re in that space, it can feel pretty darn magnetic… right? Like things are flowing towards you instead of you chasing them.
But there’s a catch to this!
There’s actually something working in your brain that has a major affect on how all this plays out.
It’s called the Reticular Activating System.
And it’s job is to literally filter your reality based on what it believes is important.
Basically, it’s constantly scanning for evidence to support what you already identify with as true.
So, if you are currently resonating with:
“I’m stuck” or “I’m overwhelmed” or “I’m blocked”
Your brain will bend over backwards finding evidence to support this.
But if you start to shift what you identify with… even slightly, your brain will start to notice different things.
Ideas. Opportunities. Momentum.
And over time it starts building in that direction.
Not because these things suddenly appeared in your life… but because now you’re ACTUALLY seeing them.
And that’s a curious way your brain experiences resonance.
Now it’s pretty tough to feel magnetic if you’re currently resonating with some stuff that constantly brings you down.
And unfortunately, your brain doesn’t exactly announce:
“Hey, i’m currently reinforcing scarcity because of something that happened to you 15 years ago, so I’m just going to keep finding evidence to support that.”
(If it were only that simple… haha)
But here’s the good news.
Awareness is the thing that starts to change everything.
In the work I do, I follow a specific method with my clients.
I call it the 3R Method, and it’s super simple:
Recognize → Release → Retune
First, you recognize what’s happening beneath the surface (we look for patterns and how your brain is trying to protect you).
Then, you release, and allow your system to regulate and let go of what it’s been holding onto (that no longer serves you).
And finally, you retune. You introduce new signals - small, consistent, aligned actions that begin to shift your identity… so you can start resonating with something different.
And over time, who you are being in the world shifts.
And the cool part?
We do this using sound.
Because sound is frequency… and frequency influences frequency.
We’re literally working with your system to shift how you resonate.
So, if magnetism is what you’ve been chasing… it might be time to shift your focus to how you’re resonating.
Because however your internal world is resonating… your external world will reflect that right back.
JUST FOR YOU:
Creative AlCHEMY EXERCISE
Here’s a little check-in to bring awareness to how you’re currently resonating:
Instead of looking at everything that needs to be fixed or changed… try this:
Take a deep breath, place your hand on your heart, and ask yourself the following questions.
What am I currently identifying with right now? (What story or pattern does my brain keep reinforcing?)
Where am I noticing resistance or tension in my life? (This often points to where I’m trying to force change.)
What is one small shift I can make today that feels aligned and supportive? (Not a complete overhaul… just a signal in a new direction.)

Happening inside the Creative Alchemy Circle • 2pm GMT Join us inside the Circle for our monthly clearing session. Each month we release what's been keeping us stuck so we can move forward on our creative projects with ease and joy.
Fri, Apr 3 - WElcome party
Happening inside the Commons • 2pm GMT Each month we have a PARTY where we welcome new members to the space and get to know each other a bit! This meeting has no agenda, just come meet your fellow community members and share time over your love for creativity and the creative process!
Remember, sometimes the most magnetic thing you can do, is to stop trying to be magnetic, and just be you.
A you that’s a little more aware, a little more aligned, and a little more willing to release what’s not longer serving you.
Because when your internal world shifts… your external world can’t help but respond.
